Siding is your home's first line of defense against wind, rain, and everyday wear — and one of the biggest factors in curb appeal. We install and repair vinyl, composite, and stone veneer siding systems from brands like Tando, TimberTech, and Adorn, with proper flashing and moisture barriers behind every panel.

Whether you're patching storm damage or re-siding the whole house, we'll help you choose a material and color that fits your home's architecture and stands up to Ohio and Pennsylvania weather.

Siding, in plain terms

Siding is the visible skin of your house, and most people choose it on looks — reasonably, since it is the single biggest thing you see from the street. But the part that decides whether it protects the house is behind it: the weather-resistive barrier, and the flashing where siding meets windows, doors, roofs and the ground.

Vinyl is the most common choice here, and modern vinyl is considerably better than what gave it a poor reputation decades ago. Insulated vinyl adds a foam backing that stiffens the panel and adds some thermal value. Fiber cement is heavier, thicker and takes paint; engineered wood sits between the two. Stone and stone-veneer accents are typically used on gables, columns and water tables rather than whole elevations.

What good siding does

It changes the house more than anything else you can do
New siding, trim and colour transform a tired exterior in a way a new roof simply cannot, because you see it at eye level every time you pull in.
It ends most exterior maintenance
Vinyl and fiber cement both remove the scrape-and-paint cycle that old wood demands. Fiber cement will want repainting eventually; vinyl generally does not.
It is an opportunity to fix what is underneath
Siding coming off is the one time anyone will see the sheathing. Soft spots, old water damage and missing housewrap can be dealt with properly while the wall is open, which is much cheaper than discovering them later.

Where it compromises

Vinyl gets brittle in deep cold
A hard freeze plus an impact — a thrown stone, a ladder foot — can crack a panel where warmer weather would have flexed. Panels are replaceable, though colour matching gets harder as a line ages.
Colour fades, unevenly
Sun-facing elevations fade faster than shaded ones. It is gradual and most people never notice on their own house, but it shows if you add a panel years later.
Heavier products cost more to hang
Fiber cement is more durable and more expensive to install than vinyl — the material is heavier, cutting is slower and dustier, and it usually needs painting. It buys real durability; it is not the budget option.

Siding installed over a wall that was never properly flashed will look excellent for years and still be letting water in the whole time. The detailing around windows, doors and rooflines is where a siding job is actually won or lost, and it is the part you cannot inspect once the panels are on. Ask any contractor how they handle it — including us. It is a fair question and a short conversation.
